Afu Kaipouli Uasi was born on June 26, 1969, in Tonga and passed away on August 21, 2026, in Bedford, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, community leader, and friend whose life was centered around family, faith, friendship, and service to others.

Afu enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. Throughout his life, he formed many meaningful friendships and maintained close relationships with those he met along the way. His intelligence, loyalty, warm personality, and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Afu was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His strong Tongan roots taught him the importance of generosity, community, and caring for others. Helping people was a natural part of who he was, and he never hesitated to offer his time, guidance, or support whenever someone needed him.

Afu was a highly intelligent and accomplished man who valued education. He attended Tupou College and later received a scholarship for rugby, his favorite sport, which gave him the opportunity to continue his studies in Australia. His love for athletics remained with him throughout his life, as he also enjoyed fitness and staying active. Afu especially loved the color royal blue, representing the school he proudly attended.

Throughout his career, Afu worked for the government and was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his professional life. He served as a Lay Leader within the Tongan community and was a faithful member of Martin Methodist Church in Bedford, Texas. Through his faith and leadership, he encouraged, guided, and supported many people throughout the years.

Afu shared 23 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife, Mele Uasi. Together, they created countless memories filled with love, laughter, faith, and family—memories that will always be treasured and never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Mele Uasi; his daughter, Soana Afungia, and her husband, Sosefo Afungia, along with their children, Takai Afungia, Meliame Afungia, Lopeti Afungia, and Eva Afungia; his son, Robert Cocker; and his daughter, Linda Manuatu, and her husband, Travis Manuatu, along with their children, Anamalia Lauese and Ipeni Manuatu, his youngest daughter, Tatiana Lasike. Afu is also survived by his brother, Houpi Uasi; his nieces and nephews, Mina Vaka, Filisione Sevaki, Semisi Sevaki, Tuakolo Sevaki, and Maka Sevaki; as well as many extended family members, friends, church members, and members of the Tongan community who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nuku Uasi and Losa Uasi, and his siblings, Tevita Uasi and Longoi Sevaki.

Although Afu’s physical presence will be deeply missed, the love he shared, the wisdom he gave, and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy of faith, generosity, leadership, friendship, and devotion to his family will continue through all those whose lives he touched. Your voice may now be silent, and your place may now be still, But the love you gave so freely Will remain with us always. In every royal-blue morning, In every prayer we say, In every treasured memory, You are never far away. You lived with faith and kindness, With strength, devotion, and grace.
