Don Edward Almquist passed away on September 24, 2026. He was born Dallas, Texas, to his proud parents, Pat and Betty Almquist. A proud native of Dallas, he was raised in the community he called home.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that remained very meaningful to him throughout the years. He looked forward to attending his annual Navy reunion, where he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his fellow Navy brothers. The friendships and memories he made through his military service remained an important part of his life.
A master electrician by trade, Don took great pride in his work and especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, teach what he knew, and help others succeed. He was courteous, caring, and considerate, and he had a genuine way of making people feel remembered and appreciated.
Don had a special gift for remembering birthdays. He made it a point to remember the birthdays of family, friends, and those around him, and he enjoyed letting them know that he had not forgotten their special day. His thoughtfulness was just one of the many ways he showed how much he cared about others.
Don was also involved with the Chamber of Commerce in Rowlett, Texas, where he enjoyed being part of his community. Outside of work and his many commitments, Don cherished his time with family and friends. He could often be found relaxing in his favorite recliner while watching Judge Judy, enjoying a lunch date with friends, or simply spending time with the people he loved.
A true traveler at heart, Don enjoyed seeing new places and had traveled to almost every state in the United States. Whether traveling with his Navy brothers, family, or friends, he appreciated the experiences and memories that came along with each journey.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Pat and Betty and his sister, Cathy.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, knowledge, and service. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his son, Brandon, and his wife, Stephanie; his grandchildren, Tyler, Savanna, Nathan, and Corrianna; his great-grandchild, Dalton; his sister Sue; his Navy brothers; and numerous family members and friends who were blessed to know him.
Don’s life was defined by the people he helped, the friendships he treasured, the knowledge he shared, and the countless memories he created along the way. His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
